On a quiet summer morning, Irina walked her 6-year-old daughter to kindergarten, hand in hand. She had big plans for the day – to buy bread, some potatoes, and maybe, if there was any money left, a few sweets for the little one.
But at 11:43 AM, the peace of Kharkiv was shattered once again. An explosion. Then another. And another.
Irina never made it to the store. She ran straight to the kindergarten, her heart pounding out of her chest. Luckily, her daughter was still playing in the basement with the other children. But not all were that lucky.
Today, Irina feeds her child with whatever she can find: a can of food given by a neighbor and a thin soup made from water and rice scraps. She has no more sweets for her daughter. No more medicine for he
